I shall take a moment here to welcome our new Wing Commander Catherine Llewellyn to her new post. Good luck from all of us on the squadron Ma’am. Her letter to us is on a separate page.

Here at Portishead squadron there is generally plenty to keep you occupied.

Check the calendar for what we have going on in the evenings. The Facebook page has a lot of events on there too. You may have to scroll up and down to find them. However by turning up to squadron evenings you should keep up to date on all thats happening.  Don’t forget that  attendance matters when it comes to being chosen for flying, gliding (when it eventually arrives) and camps as well as promotions and awards.

Talking of awards. March 9 is our awards evening and dinner. This year (as last) it is at The Walton Hotel. Clevedon. 1900 for 1930 start. Dress is No 4 for male cadets, evening dress for female cadets and no 4 or 5 mess dress for staff. (See Mr Wilson for more details). The evening is a time for you to show off your achievements, the staff to meet your parents and for you to chill out with your squadron friends for a night of witty speeches and military banter!

Events happening in the future for you to get involved in are below. As with everything in life, the more you put into cadets the more you get out of it. So please join in whenever you can. For more details speak to the staff.

  • Wing shooting. 24 Feb (BZN)
  • Cosford Road march. 26-28 April
  • Nijmegan road march 12-20 July
  • Dodentocht road march. 8-11 Aug
  • Alpine Adventure. Bavaria – February 4th – 21st
  • Wing activities day. 7 July

As always, my door is open should you want to come in with suggestions on how we can improve your cadet experience.

If you are wondering where this picture came from it was from Exercise Griffin held at Swynnerton Camp in November.
